March 21st was a special day. It marked the one year anniversary of me being in my forever home!
Boy, has my life changed since my days in the puppy mill in Kansas! I am so lucky, but my mom tells me she's lucky too! It took me a long time (about ten months) to get use to the good life i.e. sleeping in a bed, sleeeping on a couch, getting delicious food that is all mine, GREENIES!, and probably best of all, getting hugs, kisses and belly rubs everyday! Yes, everyday!
Also, because Mommy doesn't know when my real birthday is, we celebrate it on the day I was adopted. I suppose you know what a birthday is. I never did until now. My "special" day started with pancakes for breakfast! Yay! They were yummy! Then Mommy left for a while while I napped, and when she came home she had presents for me! I got iced cinnamon roll doggie cookies, a little blue squeaky elephant that I named Blue, and a purplish thingy which is stuffingless that squeaks. I thought, WTH? Why is Mommy giving me a sock? But you know what? I like it! It is soft. In bed, Mommy holds it up in the air and I jump up and get it! That's fun for me.
I am a lucky dog. Have I said that before? Well, it's true. And it's worth repeating over and over again.

The Sunny Side of the Couch
I know everybody has their favorites. Favorite side of the bed. Favorite seat at the dinner table. Favorite toothpaste! I have a favorite too. It's where I spend about 16 hours a day. The right side of the couch. And in the afternoon, it just so happens to be the sunny side.
While it is warm when the sunlight filters in through the lace-covered door, there is more to it than that. I feel safe there. I feel secure. When my mommy is sitting next to me watching TV or working on her laptop I feel like the luckiest dog in the world! No one is going to hurt me. No one is going to force me to have babies anymore. I have a home. I am part of a family.
I am loved.

Not a Morning Dog
Sometimes my mom gets up at 7 am to go to a client's house. And she expects me to get up too. No way! She says, "C'mon on Mollie, get up." I ignore her until she uses her mean voice, then I'm like, "Okay, okay, I'm up!"
Why can't I just stay in bed and go pee on the piddle pad (or near it, in my usual way)? I like sleeping. It is a good thing.

Lucky Number Seven
Before moving to Maryland from the puppy mill in Kansas I had a different name. Can you guess what it was? I was called #7. Yup. I was just a number. However, maybe it was lucky for me. I have a mommy who loves me now. I have a comfy couch to snooze on all day long. I have a warm bed to sleep in at night.
Yup. I'm a lucky pup. I don't hate the number seven. My mom says she's the lucky one to have me in her life, so we both came out winners. Vegas, look out!

What's Mom Doing to Me?
What is this thing she put over my butt? I don't like it. Not one bit. Is this because I peed in the bed? Twice. I'm sorry Mommy. Please take this thing off me. I promise to be good. I know you were really cross at me for waking you up at 4:30 in the morning the other day. And also for making you take a morning off to go to the laundrymat to clean your comforter. I don't like your "mean" voice. I'm sorry. I really am.
I won't do it again. Now, what exactly is it that I did wrong?

Stuffies
I love 'em. I like 'em in the bed with me. All of 'em. I really like my mommy to play with me and my stuffies at night. I go wild trying to grab 'em from my mom. She tires of the game easily. I could play all night! I think I like my monkey the best. He makes a cool noise. It sounds like this: "WAAAA - WA - WA - WAAAA!"
I can reach my paws up really high to reach 'em. Sometimes I topple over, but that's okay. I never fall off the bed. Mommy puts them back in my stuffie basket, but I usually bring 'em back to bed. All 28 of 'em.

Brrrr...It's cold out there!
Mommy took me out this morning and boy, was it windy! I did a quick pee and said, "No thanks," to the walk. I bolted back to the deck. Mommy just tsk-tsked me because she had to go meet with a client.
When Mommy returned, I was in my newest favorite spot, "our" bed. Mommy calls it her bed, but she should know better! She said that the S word is in the forecast. What? Oh, snow. Why do DCers freak out at that word? Just stay inside if you don't like it! I'm down with that...and a pumpkin latte please.
